Car crashes into train near Woodstock

An 88 year old man has been airlifted to London Victoria Hospital after his car collided with a train on Oxford Road 4 outside of Woodstock Sunday morning.

It happened just before 10:20 a.m. at the CP Rail crossing in between County Road 17 and the bridge that crosses the Thames River.

Sgt. Marvin Massecar with Woodstock Police tells 570 News the lead car of the eastbound train was already crossing the road, and the man’s southbound car struck the second locomotive.

There was a secondary impact with the seventh car of the train after that.

Massecar says the man’s injuries were minor in relation to the impact of the collision, adding they are non-life threatening at this time.

Massecar does not believe the collision was intentional, but he says they are not ruling anything out yet.

He says they are looking into whether a medical emergency or mechanical problem came into play.

Oxford Road 4 is now open at County Road 17.
