Snowfall warning ends for Waterloo Region

The Snowfall warning has ended, Environment Canada lifted the warning just before 5 this afternoon.

Warning Preparedness Meteorologist, with Environment Canada, Geoff Coulson tells 570 News skies will clear up overnight and we’ll see sunshine Saturday and Sunday.

Coulson says about 20 to 25 centimetres of snow has fallen since early this morning, and he expects a few more centimetres before day’s end.

He adds it’s too early to predict, but this may not be the last significant snowfall we see before the end of March.

Coulson says we haven’t seen snowfall like this for the past few years, but it’s not out of the ordinary for southern Ontario.

However, he says the roller coaster will continue on Monday, with temperatures warming up to plus seven, and a messy mix of wet snow and rain.

The temperature will rise to seven degrees Celsius.

But he says seasonal temperatures will return below zero by Tuesday, freezing things over again.
