The City of Kitchener has declared a snow event. It means no parking on city streets starting at 11:59 p.m. Thursday February 7th until 11:59 p.m. Friday February 8th.

The city is ready for the impending snow, with almost 50 plows and salters ready to hit the road, depending on how bad Friday’s snowfall is.

City officials are constantly monitoring the forecast.

“Right now it looks like we’re not going to get a lot of snow until after midnight, then really heavy after 3am.” said City of Kitchener Operations Manager, Scott Berry.

He says at that point they will put everything they’ve got on the road.

Berry adds it’s a waiting game now, but they’re going over equipment and making sure everything is ready to go.

He also says the city will likely issue a snow event at some point. That means no on-street parking.

Berry adds it’s still helpful to crews if you avoid parking on the street, even if no snow event is issued.
