Mayor Craig’s “State of the City”

Economic development and infrastructure advancement were two of the themes of the Cambridge Mayor’s State of the City Address on Thursday night.

Doug Craig spoke at the soon to open Dunfield Theatre. It is a $14 million investment that was secured through the Building Canada Fund.

Craig tells 570 News there is quality development happening in all three core areas of his city.

“In Hespeler we have the Riverbank Lofts, we’ve got Preston Springs under new ownership…down in the core area, the old Galt Post Office, these are great developments.”

Craig also wants to work with neighbouring municipalities to attract more foreign investment to the area.

We asked him about challenges in the year ahead and he says they are region-wide.
“We still have people needing affordable housing…we still have people going to the food bank…Those are the things we have to be concerned about.”
