With the name change to BlackBerry, what happens to RIM Park?
After several inquiries the City of Waterloo sent out a tweet yesterday afternoon stating…”We haven’t discussed the idea of a facility name change.” @citywaterloo.
Research In Motion (now BlackBerry) donated $2 million towards the construction of the park in 2001.
When it was in the planning stages it was referred to as the Millennium Recreation Park.

I think we should call it “WE Park”.
Just like the NEW transit system should be called
“WE Bus”

WE= OUR CITY/REGIONAL COUNCIL
Look up White Elaphant
If you will recall, it was not a donation from RIM, but from their employees. They choose the name. It’s a great and unique name, why would we want to call it Millenium just like dozens or perhaps hundreds of other projects around the country.
Why not just put it back to Millenium Park? Or maybe open the floor to someone else? RIM Park was an awful name anyway, the end result of nepotism.c..even Blackberry Park sounds better.
Why not hire a consulting firm to come up with a new name.
