RIM to show off the new BlackBerry operating system during the SuperBowl

The BlackBerry is ready for game time.
Research In Motion says its new operating system will appear in a 30-second advertisement in this year’s SuperBowl.

The announcement comes as RIM prepares to unveil its latest BlackBerry smartphone devices on Wednesday.

The company says the SuperBowl ad will be an opportunity to show its redesigned BlackBerry to tens of millions of viewers and air in both the U.S. and Canada on Feb. 3.

The SuperBowl is the most widely watched television event of the year, drawing 111.3 million viewers in 2012.

The football game is also the most expensive event for advertisers, with a 30-second spot costing an average of $3.4 million last year.
