Water services should be restored this morning to several Kitchener residents, after an 18 inch water main break.

Residents in the Greenbrook and Stirling area called 9-1-1 just after six last night after noticing water pooling on the street.

A break in the water main caused the road to collapse, leaving some areas with no water for about 30 minutes. Crews are now working to repair the sinkhole on Greenbrook.

Director of Kitchener Utilities Wally Malcolm tells 570 News crews worked to maintain normal levels of water pressure, and that they are still investigating the cause of the break.

He says about 100 breaks occur in a year, but this affected water pressure because it was so close to the pumping station.
