Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of Light begins this weekend.
The Jewish celebration started at sundown on Saturday and will be celebrated for 8 consecutive days.
Locally, The fourth annual Chanukah in the Square will take over the Waterloo Public Square Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and will feature food, live music, crafts, as well as the tallest menorah in Waterloo Region; which stands at 16 feet tall and will be lit using a miniature crane.
A toy drive for children in Israel is a new addition to this years event, and meet and greet with Kitchener-Waterloo’s representatives in this years 2013 Maccabiah Games.
The event is hosted by the Chabad Jewish Centre, and Rabbi Moshe Goldman, the director of the centre, encourages the entire community to attend, if they are Jewish or not.
