A lottery and gaming official says there are rumours that the holder of last Friday’s winning ticket in the Lotto Max draw, purchased in Cambridge, is aware that they have won, but has yet to come forward.

OLG spokesperson, Sarah Kiriliuk, tells 570 News that the winner is likely getting their ducks in a row.  “Part of it is just shock.  They don’t know what to do. They’re sort of paralyzed with, not fear, but just like ‘Oh, my gosh’ indecision. “What do I do?’  A lot of the time people are getting financial advice and they’re getting legal advice as well”, she says.

Kiriluik says she has also heard speculation that the winning ticket holder lives in Cambridge, but is not sure if the ticket was purchased individually or as part of a group.

She adds there have been two sizeable lottery wins locally in the past five years. Two sisters and some customers at the restaurant where they worked shared nearly 7 million dollars in lottery winnings three years ago, and a mother and daughter in Cambridge, newly immigrated from Portugal, won 9 million in April of 2010.
