The CHYM Tree of Hope radiothon broke a record from last year raising $362,499 in support of Waterloo Region’s Family and Children Services Foundation.
Allison Scott is Executive Director at Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region and tells 570 News every year about 10-thousand families come into contact with their agency.
Scott says these are families that are facing poverty, emotional/mental health needs or could be exposed to physical harm.
At any one point in the year, FCS is serving over 1200 families.
Scott adds it can be very difficult for their families to be able to afford to provide even the basic things they need to keep them on track.
