Storm edge Rangers but local charities win

The Guelph Storm edged the Rangers 3-2 in a shootout last night in Kitchener’s 18th annual Teddy Bear Toss game.

Brent Pedersen scored that first Rangers goal that sent the stuffed toys flying through the air and onto the ice.

Ben Thomson had the other Kitchener goal and goalie Franky Palazzese made 41 saves and was named the evening’s first star.

The list of injured players also got longer as forwards Eric Ming and Justin Bailey both left the game with upper-body injuries.

Meantime, a record 8,870 teddy bears and other stuffed toys were collected and will go to local charities.

To date, over 91,000 bears have been collected since the Teddy Bear Toss started.

Kitchener’s next game is Friday night at home to Belleville. 570 News has the pre-game show at 7pm.
