An anchor tenant has been confirmed for Waterloo’s Barrel Yards development.
Waterloo Mayor, Brenda Halloran confirmed the news to 570 News this morning, that Delta Hotels is setting up there.
The hotel, going up on Erb near Father David Bauer Drive, will be nine stories and feature 195 guest rooms and 8-thousand square feet of conference and meeting space.
The $36 million hotel is slated to open next summer.
“It’s very exciting for us…This Delta Hotel is going to be very very critical to making sure that our Uptown is going to be vibrant…It is going to be a place people want to come to.” Halloran told 570 News.
“This new hotel will reposition Delta as the market leader in Kitchener-Waterloo and will offer travelers the most modern, innovative and thoughtfully designed hotel in the region,” said Ken Greene, President & CEO, Delta Hotels and Resorts. “The Delta Waterloo will represent the new Delta and we are thrilled to bring this upscale hotel experience to the heart of Canada’s high tech sector in Waterloo’s bustling business community.”
Delta also announced its’ property in Kitchener will no longer operate under the Delta brand effective March 31st.
