Kitchener-based company Great Canadian Holidays Inc. has settled a claim of unauthorized copying of copyrighted software to the Business Software Alliance for $29,000.
The president of the motor coach and tour operator, Lorna Hundt explained that “companies need to be very careful when purchasing used equipment and software” stating, “They cannot assume that the licenses that come with that equipment are valid.”
In a 2011 study by BSA-IDC, 28 per cent of software on computers in the country were pirated, with a retail value of US $1.066 billion.
