Cambridge City Council is getting Waterloo Region’s MPPs up-to-date.
It’s hosting a special council meeting with local MPPs today at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts.
Mayor Doug Craig tells 570 News the meeting is designed to act as an open dialogue with the region’s MPPs on key issues facing the area.
Craig said those issues include sustainable funding, cuts to social programs and the local economy.
North Dumfries Mayor, Robert Deutschmann will join Craig and the MPPs from Cambridge-North Dumfries, Kitchener-Conestoga and Kitchener-Waterloo.
Craig says, “We cannot continue to run our cities on property tax and user fees.” He adds, “There’s not enough funding there for us to do what we need to do.”
He says the two levels of government need to co-operate to get these problems solved.
All Waterloo Region MPPs were invited, however John Milloy, MPP Kitchener Centre was unable to attend.
