Environment Canada has issued wind warning for Waterloo Region.
We could see wind gusts of between 60 and 100km/h, starting tonight.
570 News Weather Specialist, John Wilson says hurricanes would normally turn right, adding Hurricane Sandy will instead make a left turn.
Wilson is predicting some wind damage that may down some trees. He also says we could receive 50 to 75 millimetres of rain in three days.
Meantime, The Great Lakes could see seven-metre-high waves, while large waves are also expected along Nova Scotia’s south shore.
This NOAA satellite image taken Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 shows Hurricane Sandy off the Mid Atlantic coastline moving toward the north with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Tens of thousands of people were ordered to evacuate coastal areas Sunday as big cities and small towns across the U.S. Northeast braced for the onslaught of a superstorm threatening some 60 million people along the most heavily populated corridor in the nation.
