Sun Life/Rangers Kids in Gear Program launches Sunday

The Sun Life Financial Kids in Gear Program launches its hockey drive this Sunday.

The event, in partnership with The Kitchener Rangers, kicks off at the Rangers game Sunday night at The Aud.

They are asking for new or slightly used hockey equipment that will be used to help underprivileged children in the Kitchener-Waterloo area play hockey this season.

The drive will run until November 5th with various drop-off locations.

Monetary donations will also be accepted and 100 per cent of funds will go to Donna’s Kids – a program run by the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association.

The program raised over $17,000 last year.

Bill Ramsammy, the Assistant Vice President of Corporate Brand and Marketing at Sun Life Financial, tells 570 News “That allowed us to help 137 local kids with their dreams to play hockey.”

Once the hockey drive ends, the program will continue for the duration of the season.
Other events include a fan barbecue, equipment collection, a season ticket holder skate and breakfast with the coach.
