NHLPA counter-offer expected

More movement is expected today between the NHL and the NHL Players Association over a new offer on revenue sharing, but now things are more urgent, especially for the Leafs.

The NHL’s latest offer is a 50-50 split on revenue, and the whole deal was released publicly on Wednesday.

A statement from the league released at the same time says delay in the talks beyond October 25th will leave the league with an abbreviated season and will quote, “Require the cancellation of signature NHL events.”

That’s considered to be a clear reference to the January 1st Winter Classic between the Leafs and Detroit.

The NHLPA is set to announce a counter-offer today on the revenue sharing issue.
