The Great Canadian Food Fight – a 48 hour blitz to replenish food bank shelves in Waterloo Region and in cities across the country – has wrapped up.

Locally, over 135,000 pounds of food was donated to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.

That’s enough food to keep the shelves stocked through mid-December.

It also puts it at 86% of its Fall Food Drive goal.

The results from other Canadian cities are not known, but the Executive Director of The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, Wendi Campbell says, “As my friends at the Regina Food Bank are fond of saying, there are no losers in the Great Canadian Food Fight.”
