Pharmacists can now give flu shots

There’s new access for flu shots and it happens at your pharmacy.
At least 22 pharmacists in Waterloo Region will be part of a province wide plan that sees up to 600 pharmacies offering the vaccine.
Health Minister Deb Matthews also announced today pharmacists will be allowed to prescribe drugs to help people quit smoking. And they’ll be able to renew non-narcotic prescriptions and adjust dosage.
The only thing that needs to be worked out is payment. There’s still no agreement on how they’re going to be paid for their expanded role.
