The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade Celebrity Judges have revealed their top picks for this years best floats of the parade.

Celebrity Judges Taylor Jones, Kim Kulger, Carrie Olver and Dave Sopha have voted the 1st place festival Award to The Old Lady in Her Shoe sponsored by Polyurethane Foam Systems while the Pirate Ship sponsored by the Stag Shop received the Harvest Award.

The Sponsor’s Award was given to the Bear Float sponsored by Bearskin Air and the Miss Oktoberfest Award, which awards the float with the best visual, was awarded to the float from Factory Shoe.

The Greater K-W Chamber of Commerce Rolling Steins float was awarded The Hans and Frieda Award for best animation. Also, The Twin Cities Award which is given to the float with the best spirit and enthusiasm was awarded to the City of Kitchener float.


The Wunderbar Award for community involvement went to Canadian Tire’s float.


The Thanksgiving day Parade People’s Choice Float was awarded to to the Pirate Ship, sponsored by the Stag Shop. This is the fourth year in a row, spectators along the parade route were able to vote through text for the People’s Choice Float. Around thirty floats competed for the award.
