Survey finds Ontario drivers unsafe in school zones

A new survey conducted by opinion forum Angus Reid found drivers are breaking the law in Ontario school zones.

In a School Zone Safety Survey by insurancehunter.ca more than three quarters of parents have witnessed drivers violate traffic laws in school zones.

The survey also found nearly one third of parents are afraid their child will be involved in an accident during school drop-off or pick-up.

Twenty five per cent of parents said their child’s school does not have a designated drop-off or pick-up zone and those who do, said the zone is overcrowded which makes parents rush and ignore the rules.

Speeding, talking and texting as well as running red lights and failing to stop at cross walks are just some laws that are being broken by drivers in school zones.
