Meantime, the City of Waterloo will stage its opening ceremonies today.

It’s the Waterloo Mayor’s Oktoberfest Luncheon taking place at the Waterloo Public Square from 11 until one this afternoon.

It’s a free event and will include visits from Onkel Hans, Miss Oktoberfest and the Black Forest Band.

Kitchener holds its opening ceremonies tomorrow, complete with the traditional tapping of the keg.
