“Fantastic news,” for KW home-owners

Home sales in KW eased in September, while the average prices continued to trend gently upward.

The Kitchener Waterloo Association of Realtors told 570 News, it’s very good news for home-owners in Waterloo Region.

“Fantastic news,” Sara Hill, President of the KW Association of Realtors said.

“Kitchener Waterloo is still proving to be an extremely positive place to live and to place your investment (in real estate), because your investment obviously is going up.”

The average sale price for single family detached homes compared to the year before is up 4.7% to $347,666. Condominium sale prices are up 8.3% to $223,941. Townhouse sales are up 4% to $262,174, and semi’s are up 1.7% to $238,834.

However, comparing 2012 and 2011’s year to date numbers, home sales in KW are just about the same, as last year, at a downward trend of less than 1%. With 4,939 homes sold this year so far, compared with 4,991 during the same period last year.

While compared to the same month last year, September 2012 home sales were down about 12% with 504 MLS sales in September 2011 versus 442 in September 2012.
