Scott Gomez, Joey Crabb, Nate Thompson sign with hometown Alaska Aces

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Scott Gomez is heading home again to play for the Alaska Aces and he’s bringing two other Anchorage natives with him.

Gomez and fellow locked-out NHLers Joey Crabb and Nate Thompson signed with the ECHL team on Friday.

This type of situation has proven successful for Gomez in the past. He spent the entire 2004-05 lockout with the Aces, scoring a league-leading 86 points and being named ECHL MVP.

Gomez is coming off a difficult season with the Montreal Canadiens that saw him put up just 11 points (2-9) in 38 games.

Crabb signed with the Washington Capitals over the summer after spending last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had 26 points in 67 NHL games.

Thompson spent last year with the Tampa Bay Lightning, racking up 15 points in 68 games.
