Don’t be surprised if you spot more smiling faces than usual today at Waterloo Region schools.

It’s “Say Hi Day” for elementary and high school students.

The goal is to have students get to know each other and become more inclusive.

It’s a team effort involving both the Public and Catholic school boards as well as the Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council.

Events today include learning to say hello in different languages, a school-wide wave
and donning the “Say Hi” colours: black & yellow.

More than 60 schools are registered to take part involving over 30,000 students.
