Catherine Fife takes a seat at Queen’s Park

There’s a new Member of Provincial Parliament at Queen’s Park. Catherine Fife was officially sworn in as an NDP M-P-P for Kitchener-Waterloo this morning.
“The oath is symbolic of making a promise to the people of Kitchener-Waterloo, that you will put their interest before yours, and work on behalf of every citizen in Kitchener-Waterloo,” said Catherine Fife when speaking with 570News shortly after being sworn in.
After taking her seat in the legislature, Fife thanked her family for being there, including her husband Dale, and their kids Aidan and Claire. After that, Fife didn’t waste any time, getting straight down to business.
“Mr. Speaker my question is to the Premier,” said Fife as she stood about to ask her first ever question as an M-P-P at Queen’s Park. “People in Kitchener-Waterloo are concerned whether the job they have today will be there tomorrow. Andrea Horwath has a plan to create well paying jobs in Ontario through the ‘job creator tax credit’. Will the government commit right here to working with Andrea Horwath and New Democrats and implement a ‘job creator tax credit’ right now?”
Not surprisingly, the questioned went unanswered.
“I was teased actually prior to question period. It’s not called ‘answer time’ right? It’s called question period,” Fife said jokingly.
In her mind, it was the right question to ask. Fife says during her campaign, job creation was the number one concern from citizens at the door. She thinks the ‘job creator tax credit’ is the way to go to ensure citizens get good paying jobs.
“It’s a simple plan. You create a job, you get a tax credit.”
