Plowing match open

100,000 people are descending on Roseville for the start of the 99th Annual  International Plowing Match.

Stretched over 800 acres of land, including a 100 acre “tent city”, the five day event kicks off Tuesday and runs through Saturday.

It features a variety of events.

There’s a trade show boasting about 600 vendors, entertainment, a lumberback contest, dog shows, a barn raising demonstration, antique & modern farm equipment displays, and a lot more.

Tuesday’s opening parade was scheduled for 10:30, but was called of due to heavy rain.

The event has also caught the attention of the powers that be at Queen’s Park.

Premier McGuinty, Conservative Leader Tim Hudak and NDP Leader Andrea Horwath all attended today’s opening ceremonies.
