Bill 115 unrest continues

A parent at Queensmount Public School is upset at how teachers at his daughters school dealt with the loss of extracurricular activities due to the teachers job action.
Mark Gamble told 570’s Jeff Allan show teachers pulled the students into the school auditorium to inform them of what the job action meant for them. Gamble says each teacher proceeded to stand up and tell the students what extra-curricular activity they were not taking part in.
The parents says other than dramatic effect he didn’t understand the purpose of telling the students in that manner when they could have mentioned something at a Meet the Teachers night a couple of days before. Mark Gamble says “these are 12 to 13 year old students who don’t understand the political agenda; now they’re being used as pawns.”
School officials were not available for comment.
Meanwhile, the protests continue around the region over Bill 115, dubbed the Putting Students First Act. Outside the office of Kitchener-Centre MPP John Milloy, roughly 400 teachers and staff from the public elementary and high schools marched and chanted while holding picket signs.
