The results of a new public opinion poll suggest the NDP have a very good chance of winning tomorrow’s provincial byelection in Kitchener-Waterloo.

The poll, conducted by Forum Research, found 42% of those surveyed back the NDP candidate, 26% the Liberal, 26% the Conservative and 6% Green Party candidate Stacey Danckert.

Forum President Lorne Bozinoff tells this morning’s Record, “Although this result preserves the status quo in the legislature, it definitely changes the political math and the calculations come out in favour of the NDP.”

The survey was conducted by phone yesterday and is considered accurate to within 3.8 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

Forum Research also conducted a survey in Vaughan, where another provincial byelection is taking place tomorrow.

It has the Liberals in the lead, followed by the Conservatives, the NDP and the Greens.
