Move In Weekend For Local Universities

With a new school year arriving next week, there will be a number of traffic disruptions in the City of Waterloo this long weekend as students move in.
Traffic will be redirected from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. over the 3 days of the Labour Day Weekend, Saturday, September 1st, Sunday, September 2nd, and Monday, September 3rd.
Signs will be posted along the streets to guide people along. Here is a list of the temporary changes:
Lester Street – Saturday, September 1st, Sunday, September 2nd, and Monday, September 3rd:
• Lester Street will be one way from Seagram Drive to Columbia Street West
• No access to Lester Street (south) from University Avenue West
• No access to Lester Street (north) from Columbia Street West
• No left turns onto Columbia Street West from Lester Street (north)
• No left turns onto University Avenue West from Lester Street (south)
• No through traffic from Lester Street (south) across University Avenue West
Spruce Street – Sunday, September 2nd, and Monday, September 3rd:
• Spruce Street will be one way from Hickory Street West to Columbia Street West
• No access to Spruce Street from Columbia Street West
Additional police and by-law officers will be on patrol in these areas to help keep the traffic flowing smoothly.
