The Special Investigations Unit has been called in after an incident in Cambridge on Thursday afternoon.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to a home on Cedar Street, west of St. Andrews around 1:45 pm on a domestic call, and officers entered the home around 2:30 pm.

“Upon entering a residence, police discovered a person deceased.” said Inspector Kevin Thaler.

The case was then turned over to the SIU, which has assigned five investigators and two forensic investigators to the case.

The SIU has reported the body found was a man, and had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

The SIU investigates cases involving police where there has been death, serious injury or claims of sexual assault.
