Waterloo Regional Police and Kitchener Utilities are investigating after a number of fire hydrants were vandalized.

Officials say 12 hydrants have had their caps stolen recently.

Director of Kitchener Utilities, Wally Malcolm says not only is this a crime, but it could potentially impact water supply and fire protection needs.

Anyone who sees a hydrant being tampered with is being asked to contact police or Kitchener Utilities.
