College faculty have new deal

OPSEU says Ontario’s college faculty have reached a tentative agreement just ahead of classes resuming next week.

Faculty have accepted a two year wage freeze, a move to improve job security for partial-load faculty, and have a contract in place before the start of the school year.

The President of Conestoga College, John Tibbits tells 570 News it’s all about providing quality education for students.

College faculty bargaining team co-chair, Ted Montgomery spoke with 570’s Gary Doyle Show and says they’ve made an important gain with the partial load faculty job security.

He says those teachers teach about half the time compared to full time staff and didn’t have any job security. Montgomery says, now they do.
