Premier Dalton McGuinty will make his second byelection campaign stop in Waterloo this afternoon.

His itinerary says he will be joined by local families to talk about the Putting Students First Act. McGuinty will be at 715 Zurich Drive at 2:30pm.

Meantime, the Tories say they’ll propose some amendments to legislation that would force new contracts on thousands of Ontario teachers.

The bill being introduced today would impose an agreement reached with English Catholic teachers on all remaining teachers and school boards who haven’t signed on — and it would ban strikes and lockouts.

Tory education critic Lisa MacLeod says the agreement weakens the authority of principals and school boards to make calls on hiring and diagnostic tests.

However the P-C’s have signalled they won’t block passage of the bill.
