4 Killed In Plane Crash Near Moorefield

Four people are dead following a plane crash in Wellington County Friday night.

Wellington County OPP spokesperson Keith Robb tells 570News the plane, a single engine Cessna 172,  was carrying a student and three other passengers, “All I can say at this point is there’s three males and a female. They’re trying to confirm the identity of all four and notify the next of kin.”

Police say they received the call at 8:39 p.m. and that the plane crashed into a cornfield in Moorefield north of Conestogo Lake.

Bob Connor, the General Manager of the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre which operates out of the Region of Waterloo International Airport, says the plane was one of theirs, and that it departed from the flight centre.

OPP, Drayton firefighters and Guelph-Wellington E-M-S all responded to the scene. The Transportation Safety Board and the Coroner are currently investigating.

All passengers on board were pronounced dead at the scene.
