Education Minister in K-W

Kitchener-Waterloo Liberal candidate Eric Davis was joined by Education Minister Laurel Broten in Waterloo to discuss the imposed teacher wage freeze.

Standing outside of Keats Way Public School in Waterloo, Broten spoke about keeping all teachers and support workers employed in order to support the provinces’ students.

“We find ourselves in a province right now where we have negotiated agreements and signed with 55 thousand teachers but we need the rest of our boards and our teachers to engage.”

Broten also said that conversations to happen soon.

“My message to them is that you need to have that conversation now. September 1st is fast approaching and as a province we cannot afford $473 Million dollars in teacher pay hikes.”
