B & E rash in Kitchener

It looks like thieves are targeting the elderly.

Regional Police are out with a reminder to ensure houses are properly secured at all times after a rash of break-ins primarily in the Rosemount and Heritage Park neighbourhoods and also on side streets running off Weber between Ottawa and Fergus.

Police say since the beginning of July, an unusually high number of people aged 70 and over are being targeted, with the break-ins happening during the day time hours and while the victim is at home.

Witnesses say they have seen a suspicious male at one of the scenes and described him as White, 5 foot 8, thick grey hair, in his late 40’s.

Anyone with information is urged to call Regional Police at (519) 650-8500 ext. 4499 or Crime Stoppers, at 1 (800) 222-TIPS.
