Thornhill Place fire deliberately set

Police say last Thursday’s fire on Thornhill Place in Waterloo was deliberately set.

The damage estimate has also climbed to $800,000.

Police say they are following up on some leads. “Some citizens have actually phoned in and given us some information.” said Waterloo Regional Police Staff Sergeant Ken Jessop.

“We’re encouraging other individuals to come forward if they have any information, possibly suspicious activity in the neighbourhood prior to and after the fire.”

Two new homes under construction were destroyed. Damage was also caused to a third home, the family living in the home managed to get out safely.

There have been other suspicious fires in the area recently including one at Lowe’s located at The Boardwalk, when it was under construction.

Police say they will look at other fires in the area as part of their investigation.
