A Kitchener woman is charged with attempted abduction in connection with a pair of incidents in the city back in June.

At that time, Waterloo Regional Police say two nine-year-old girls were approached by a woman in the area of Ninth Avenue and Connaught.

Police say one of the girls was grabbed by the woman who asked if she wanted to go home with her.

The girls got away safely after another person stepped in and the woman fled on foot.

Police say, after the initial incident became public, two other girls – both 11 – contacted them and reported a similar incident.

A 50-year-old woman faces two charges of attempted abduction.
