An update on a story we’ve been running this morning on Research in Motion.

Reports had indicated RIM was cutting 3,000 additional jobs. But a company spokesperson tells 570 News that is not the case.

The 3,000 jobs in question are part of the 5,000 cuts that had already been announced.

Waterloo, based RIM says it has closed its BlackBerry retail store in Boston — and a source says RIM may close all other such locations across North America.

On June 28th, RIM said it lost more than half-a-billion dollars in the first quarter, and announced 5,000 jobs would be cut.

The company is working to turn itself around after watching its BlackBerry lose market share to Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy.
