Kitchener’s Amanda Overland knows what the first time Olympians are going through today.

She tells 570 News everything will feel fresh and new and they will feel like superstars.

Overland won a silver medal in the 3000-metre short track speed skating relay at the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, her first and only Olympics.

On what it meant to represent Canada “It was a honour…there was so much involved in just getting there…it was probably one of the best feelings of my life.” said Overland.

Overland no longer skates competitively, but still coaches the sport in Toronto.

She’s enrolled in the Office Administration Program which she will start this fall at Conestoga College.
