Bottle bombs found in Kitchener

Police say they found 2 “draino bottle bombs” in the parking lot of the Sunrise Shopping Centre on Ottawa Street.

They were called there early yesterday morning, after security discovered a suspicious package.

Police say one of the bombs had already detonated, spreading a debris field about 10-feet.  The second malfunctioned.

No one was hurt.  No one was seen in the area.

As a precaution, police say you shouldn’t pick up any misshapen or bloated plastic bottles.

Police say they dealt with similar incidents back in April.  At that time a 10-year-old boy was seriously hurt after a home-made device exploded.

And they’re reminding parents to keep a eye on their children when they’re on the computer.  They think some kids are learning to build these bombs from the internet.
