The NDP is getting support from one of the province’s biggest unions in the pending Kitchener-Waterloo byelection.

Vice President and Treasurer of OPSEU Eddy Almeida says the NDP represents the working class and represents the values that they have as a union.

Almeida says they want to stop the Liberal government from getting a majority, “Things like the 2% on individuals making over $500,000 would never have happened if the Liberals didn’t have go along with the NDP to make a deal.”

“The liberals aren’t doing working families, in regards to members we represent any favours even though they promised to re-shore public services, they’ve done the opposite.”

Almeida adds the Conservatives are no better, “Mr Hudak has gone on record saying his party will continue to work and do more damage in regards to what Mike Harris had done years ago.”

The NDP has yet to select a candidate for the byelection in Kitchener-Waterloo.
