Waterloo Region’s largest apple producer is expanding operations.
Thanks, in part, to a loan from the federal government.
Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz has announced a 1.5 million dollar loan, to help Martin’s Family Fruit Farm build a new plant in Elmira.
The new facility will have a processing line for apple crisps and cider.
When it’s up and running in late fall, it’s expected to result in the creation of up to 30 new full-time positions.
The investment represents about half of the total cost of the project.
