Canada Day fireworks/open-closed

Fireworks are the order of the day for Canadians from coast to coast on July 1st!

Canada’s birthday is the country’s biggest day and as per usual, the biggest show in the country will take place on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

However, if you can’t make it to the capital by Sunday – there will be a number of displays planned at dusk locally – including:

-The University of Waterloo/Columbia Lake

-Kitchener City Hall

In Cambridge, a full day of activities are planned, including fireworks at Riverside Park Sunday night.  The day includes the annual Canada Day Parade, starting at 1 pm, at the corner of King and Bishops streets.  The Parade will follow King Street to Riverside Park, where it will enter the park and continue on past the Children’s Area.  Volunteers will be collecting donations along the route.

-Riverside Park in Cambridge

-Riverside Park in Guelph

Also of note in Guelph, there will be a citizenship ceremony in that city for 40 new Canadians.  The ceremony will take place at Riverside Park (69 Marilyn Drive) at 4:30pm on July 1st.  Citizenship Judge Sharon Robertson will preside.

-Scott Park in New Hamburg
It’s a 27-acre park located at 75 Hunter Street in New Hamburg.  It is the host of many community events including the Canada Day Celebration and the home of Wilmot District Soccer Association.  It’s located beside the Nith River and is linked to Heritage Park.

Also of note, here’s a list of some safety measures that you should follow when using fireworks from the City of Kitchener.
