Another Rangers grad has some new hardware to display in his trophy case.

Former Kitchener Rangers Captain and current Colorado Avalanche left-winger, Gabriel Landeskog, has won the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year.

Following the award presentation, Landeskog tweeted, “Thank you all so much for the support! And sorry to all of my teammates and old coaches for forgetting you guys in the speech.”

With Jeff Skinner’s win last year, this makes two years in a row the Rookie of the Year honours have been awarded to a Rangers grad. A feat which Rangers colour-man, Mike Farwell says is a testament to the Rangers organization, “Of not only the teams ability to recruit, but also its ability to develop players into first-class NHLer’s.”

Farwell says from the first time he met Landeskog, everything about him screamed pro hockey-player.
