Kitchener Utilities wants to let its customers know they’re not sending people door to door to replace their water heaters.
They’ve received a number of calls from customers saying marketers are using scare tactics and telling homeowners they’re working for the utility and are offering to replace water heaters. They also tell the homeowners they may have venting issues with their water heaters and the utility doesn’t offer Energy star.
Director of Kitchener Utilities Wally Malcolm tells 570 News all the claims are false. He believes the door-to door sales people are a combination of legitimate companies and salespeople working for various companies selling water heaters.
Malcolm adds if Kitchener Utilities had to do work they would notify the homeowners through mail and a phone call.
