Rate drop coming

Kitchener Utilities customers will see the numbers drop on their bills after July 1st, by about 7%.

The natural gas provider announced today (Monday) the rate drop will save the average customer about $72.

Director of Utilities, Wally Malcolm tells 570 News how the drop in fees was calculated, “Based on what our costs have been for purchasing the gas, and what storage levels we have remaining, we were able to reduce our rates to the customer through the supply program of the purchased gas.

Malcolm says it’s exciting news, “Natural gas has really dropped over the past year on the commodity markets, and now we’re able to reap the benefits of that reduction and pass it on to our customers.”
