Kidsability Fundraiser

Jog, run, walk or wheel and help make a difference.

Today marks the 26th annual KidsAbility Cambridge Times Rotary Classic, raising funds to help local children living with disabilities.
KidsAbility Executive Director Lisa Talbot, tells 570 News that the fundraiser has a very big impact on families in the community.

Over the years the event has raised over half a million dollars and provided services for families without having to leave their community. Talbot adds that on average the fundraiser brings in about $40,000, however it takes as much as $2,500 to help one child in need.
She says that although their services help several children throughout the community there are still over 1,000 children who remain on the waiting list.

Talbot adds that KidsAbility has 1,200 new referrals every year and over 60 per cent of those come from parents directly. She says that their services ensure immediate assessment so families can know what steps to take next.

The event kicks off with a pair of runs/walks at 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Dickson Arena.
