The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation has launched the “Pink Tour”

Kitchener will see pink today!

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation kicked off it’s Pink Tour yesterday in London, and the second stop is today in Kitchener.

CEO of The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Sandra Palmaro tells 570 News that while one in nine Canadian women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, only 42% get screened regularly.

She said, “So we knew there was a gap in understanding and education and we felt that the best way to provide women with the information they needed was to go to them.”

The bus will provide an interactive, engaging and informative experience from start to finish.  The bus will also provide the opportunity for eligible women to sign up for a mammogram.

She said, “A mammogram can detect a cancer tumour when it’s the size of an apple seed. And if you find that tumour yourself it’s more likely to be the size of a ping pong ball.”

The Pink Tour Bus will be at the CIBC at 245 Strasburg Road this morning from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Following that, it will make a stop at the Shoppers Drug Mart at 310 Fairway Road South this afternoon from 2:30 until 4:30.
